Locum shifts – Whatsapp
Although planned leave is covered internally, sick leave is covered by the payment of additional duties. If a shift becomes available then this will be communicated on the Whatsapp DCCM RMO Locum shifts groupchat. We will ask your permission to add you onto this group during your orientation. This group also has a significant number of registrars who have previously worked in the DCCM. If you would like to be removed from tis group at any stage then please ask one of the consultants.
If you wish to work an additional shift then please get in touch with the consultant on call. Although we are very thankful for those that pick up additional shifts, this is entirely voluntary and we realise that you may not wish to for a variety of reasons.
How to make a claim
From Hippo:
Go to “MyHR” (tab in grey in the top bar)
Click on “Click here to go directly to HR Forms page”
Click on “RMO additional duties” and fill in the details required on the form.
Public holidays
As this is a shift roster then you will be rostered on during some public holidays.
After a public holiday please complete the public holiday form and note the dates of the public holiday and if you worked any hours during that holiday. If you have worked on a public holiday then you are entitled to a day in lieu as well as additional compensation for the hours worked.
If you have not worked on the public holiday then you will still be entitled to a day in lieu because of the shift roster. For this to occur then the NRA requires a form to be completed.
Leave
If you are sick and unable to attend work then you must advise the on call consultant of this.
Planned leave is requested in advance and covered internally.
As a department we feel that time away from work and time off are important for welfare. As such we attempt to accommodate leave whenever possible however at times it is not possible to accommodate everyone’s request. If your leave is flexible around dates then please make this clear when you put your request in.
Leave requests should be emailed to the registrar roster group within the Department of Critical Care Medicine. They can be reached at [email protected] . Aspects around leave are also discussed during the registrar orientation.
